{"id":8119,"date":"2017-07-27T05:15:00","date_gmt":"2017-07-27T05:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mangoes-and-bullets.org\/audream\/"},"modified":"2017-07-27T05:15:00","modified_gmt":"2017-07-27T05:15:00","slug":"audream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mangoes-and-bullets.org\/en\/audream\/","title":{"rendered":"AUDREAM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/audream.org\/\">AUDREAM<\/a> &#8211; that stands for &#8220;Audre Lorde &amp; Our Dreams&#8221; and is the name of a mobile anti-racist, feminist library.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span lang=\"en-US\">Inspired by AUDRE LORDE and her words <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">&#8216;<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Your silence will not protect<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">you<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> &#8216; &#8211; we want to raise our voices, make our stories accessible and fight for our causes and dreams as FEMINIST*INNES OF COLOR<\/span>.<span lang=\"en-US\">&#8220;<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><a href=\"https:\/\/audream.org\/about-audream\/\">This is how the initiators describe their project<\/a>. The hearing and visibility of Black feminist perspectives, positions, thoughts, questions and demands is the main concern of AUDREAM.<br \/>\n<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">&#8220;<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Audream is a compilation of approximately 90 books, magazines and DVD&#8217;s to date, with anti-racist and Black feminist claims in the form of children&#8217;s and young adult books, biographies and theoretical works, to make marginalized knowledge accessible:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">Black History<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">that is often un_perceived, inaccessible, and\/or told from a white perspective. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Black knowledge<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">which includes social analysis and Black research findings and knowledge production Black perspectives, biographical narratives, experiential accounts, and perspectives on various life issues<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">Children&#8217;s books<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">The main focus is on children&#8217;s books that address racism, depict black children or children of color as active subjects, or deal with topics such as &#8220;I love my hair&#8221; and thus enable children to positively self-identify far away from stereotyped depiction or total absence in speech and writing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">Criticism of racism<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">which, despite the numerous publications on the subject, is still far too seldom the subject of profound debate.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/audream.org\/\">Self-description of AUDREAM<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">An orderable <a href=\"http:\/\/www.feminism-unlimited.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/AUDREAM-B%C3%BCcherliste.pdf\">book box<\/a><\/span> is designed to facilitate access to books that inspire and empower, offer opportunities for identification, tell Black stories and depict realities of life, critically analyze whiteness, and present postcolonial theories.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AUDREAM &#8211;
