5420793800001ZAfter the book “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates was published in the USA in 2015, it has also been available in German since the beginning of 2016. Out of the reality of ongoing racial discrimination and violence against Black people in the U.S., the author writes his manifesto, addressing his 15-year-old son in the form of a letter. What follows is a relentless and harrowing inventory of the racism-ridden social conditions in which both find themselves as Black people. In addressing his son, Coates prepares him for ongoing experiences of marginalization and danger as they currently exist and must be expected in the future.
