dummy“Your utopia is my reality and my reality is your utopia”.

SAVVY Contemporary – The laboratory of form-ideas is a laboratory of conceptual, intellectual, artistic and cultural development and North-South exchange: in the SAVVY studio ideas are transformed into forms and forms into ideas.

SAVVY Contemporary sees itself as a place that actively promotes North-South dialogue in the Berlin art scene. Here, space is provided for critical discourse and contemporary art, in particular contemporary diasporic art.

Accordingly, exhibitions, performances and events take place every two months in the form of a moderated “trialogue”: A curator invites another artist from Europe or North America and one from Africa, South America, Asia or Australia.

With its program, SAVVY aims to fill a gap in the Berlin art scene, which has historically been characterized by a preoccupation with an East-West dialogue, as a result of which topics related to a North-South dialogue have long been neglected.

For example, a major exhibition at SAVVY Contemporary in 2015 was:

WE ARE ALL BERLINERS: 1884-2014
A Commemoration of the Berlin Congo Conference
An Exhibition curated by Simon Njami
