“Education concerns and engages almost all people: Above all, school education and educational certificates play an important role in a person’s life. They influence the circle of friends or the place of residence and are often important for employment, wages and well-being. However, access to education is not equal. The publication reflects stereotypical images and takes a critical look at performance beyond the common pattern of thinking ‘If you only want to, you’ll make it’. Above all, it allows those who are usually talked about to have their say. The volume follows up on seven comic biographies that were created in 2011 as part of an exhibition on the educational experiences of people without an academic educational background. It addresses various limits and hurdles, but also opportunities and support possibilities of participants on their (educational) paths and embeds their personal experiences in a structural and discursive framework.” (Announcement of the publisher)
