The w_orten und meer publishing house has published the volume “We are heroines!” of the svk – self-defense course with words.

“the stories in the volume “we are heroines!” unfold from the everyday lives and imaginations of the 10 young female authors. sometimes written, painted or photographed, the contributions tell of friendship, cohesion, school, commonalities, strategies, affiliations, bullying, detectives, fear, trust, escape, adult-child relationships, slowness, reflections, experiences of racism, size and the feeling of being made small.” (Publisher’s book description).

The authors of the book are girls from Berlin between the ages of six and 16. They have a common idea: Together they want to become stronger and fight discrimination – with words. The svk has come together to talk about experiences of being changed from the outside and to support each other. Discrimination and bullying are experiences that many children experience early on as part of their everyday lives: In kindergarten and school, the classroom, by teachers and educators, teaching aids or the institutions themselves.

In the volume, the girls invite us with wit and openness to get to know parts of their everyday experience and their ideas, desires and questions. (Cf. book description by the publisher).
