The mission of the Black German Heritage and Research Association (BGHRA) is to document and support scholarly activities of Black Germans around the world.
Primarily, it funds research that addresses historical and contemporary presences of Black people in Germany and Black Germans in the United States. In collaboration with scholars, institutions, and organizations, BGHRA advocates for the interdisciplinary inclusion of Black German history, experience, and contemporary culture in research and teaching and promotes bilateral exchange.
The Black German Heritage and Research Association website includes a blog that discusses current research projects, publications, and exhibitions, as well as a section that provides information about the “Conventions,” BGHRA’s annual international conferences.
