RomaniPhen has published a criteria grid against gadjé racism on its website. The collection of critical questions under the title ” Well meant is not well done – criteria critical of racism for the creation of educational materials” serves to address racism directed against Sinte_zza and Rromn_nja in teaching contexts. The aim is to avoid unnecessarily repeating or even reviving and circulating racism and ideas behind it.

About the criteria grid RomaniPhen itself says:
“Especially in teacher training, this topic is not or not sufficiently addressed. However, with the introduction of new requirements in the framework curricula in many federal states and the accompanying implementation of the minority rights of Sinti and Roma, there is an urgent need for appropriate thematic training. In the workshop ‘Well-meant is not well-done – Critical Criteria for the Creation and Analysis of Educational Materials’, concrete materials will be used to show how and where such reproductions happen against the best of intentions.

We developed 36 criteria for detecting and circumventing gadjé racism after an intensive analysis of common educational materials. These criteria are concrete aids for teachers and learners to self-critically engage more deeply with the issue and avoid racial violation in the classroom.”

A short version of the criteria grid can be downloaded from the RomaniPhen website.
