The story by Georg Wieghaus, illustrated by Lukas Ruegenberg, is about the life of Johann Trollmann – a German Sinto who became German boxing champion in 1933.
Johann Trollmann wanted to become a boxer since his childhood. In the 1930s he was one of the best boxers in Germany. In 1933 he qualified as the German champion.
He was subsequently stripped of his title by the boxing federation, which was riddled with Nazis.

Johann Trollmann was murdered as a victim of the Porajmos in the German National Socialism in the concentration camp Neuengamme.

The life of Johann Trollmann is sensitively told and illustrated in the book. The reading is suitable for children from the age of six as well as for adults. As one of the hardly existing children’s books in German language, the book deals with the life story of a Rom.
