The I.L.A. collective’s publication “At the expense of others?” is about how imperial lifestyles and exploitative structures in the 21st century prevent a good life for all. On the associated website, one chapter of the booklet is made freely available every month.

The I.L.A. collective writes about itself and its work:

“Our interdisciplinary collective consists of 15 young scientists*. Together we wrote this dossier over the course of a year. We have academic training in economics, development and agricultural economics, political science, political economy, international relations, education, environmental science, sustainability science, history and law. In addition to our work in the I.L.A. Collective, we study and work in universities, non-governmental organizations, social movements or in a trade union environment.

(…)

The purpose of this dossier is to make the scientific concept of the imperial way of life accessible to civil society and a wider public. For this purpose, the I.L.A. collective prepares the academic discourse in a clear and understandable way. It thus explicitly wants to leave the academic milieu.”
