imagesThe youth magazine Fluter of the Federal Agency for Civic Education has published an issue (No. 59) with the title topic ” Africa”. The issue contains several interesting articles that deal in a differentiated way with current social issues, (global) political relations, recent developments, ongoing power relations and popular culture in African countries, e.g. Kenya, Nigeria or Malawi.

Unfortunately, Africans themselves hardly have a say in the articles. Instead, the text contributions seem to be written exclusively by (white) Europeans. Despite many articles that are worth reading, it is therefore questionable to what extent an intended confrontation with (post)colonial structures is implemented in practice.

The magazine can be downloaded here, or ordered free of charge from the Federal Agency for Civic Education .
