The website Hoyerswerda-1991 was published on the 25th anniversary of the racist pogrom of Hoyerswerda by “Out of Focus Film” and the Initiative Pogrom 91 in September 2016.

In reunified Germany, the extent of racist and right-wing violence reached a new dimension at the beginning of the 1990s: Every day, people attacked a hostel for contract workers, mainly from Mozambique and Vietnam, as well as a shelter for refugees. Numerous people were injured. Up to 500 people took part in the attacks, which were not stopped by the police. The Hoyerswerda pogrom marked the beginning of a series of racist attacks in Germany in the early 1990s. In 1993, the asylum law was finally tightened.

On the website, historical facts and contemporary witness accounts can be read and viewed under items such as those affected, opposition, expulsion or police.
