“The NSU murders were followed by a racist media debate and one-sided, discriminatory investigative work. The play ‘Urteile’ by Christine Umpfenbach and Azar Mortazavi […] counters this racism with the perspective of those left behind.” Publisher’s Book Description

The text of the oppressive and dense play has now been published in a book for the first time. The theatrical text is complemented by articles that highlight structural racisms and discriminatory practices and offer possible answers to the following pressing questions:

“What is the nature of the society in which the NSU murders were possible? What role do the media, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, politics play in the subsequent dealings? And in what ways do the bereaved gain a hearing for their own voices in social discourse?”
