The “Media Shelf (not only) for Children and Youth” contains an extensive and very well sorted collection of media whose main protagonists are Black children and children of color.
The archive was created as a private initiative as a result of a search for resources that aim to empower and encourage, in particular, children affected by racism.
For the person in charge of the project, the search for appropriate books, films or audios always means an active confrontation with (one’s own) whiteness, with racism and representations of black and white.
The media shelf is intended to help other seekers find empowering media.
On the website you can search for suitable material in the categories books (divided into German and English), fairy tales, DVD and audio.
