This teaching module is aimed at students in grades 10 to 13 and can be used, for example, in the subjects of political education, German, history and ethics/religion.

The authors write about the contents of the module:

“Language is historically shaped as a result of social processes and is in a constant state of change. It not only depicts reality, but creates it – language can (re)produce and solidify racism. This module deals with language constructs of racist discrimination, exclusion and devaluation; discusses possibilities and limits of political correctness; encourages reflective language use.”

The entire module can be downloaded as a pdf file from the website of the project Zwischentöne (Georg Eckert Institute – Leibniz Institute for International Textbook Research) and is available under a Creative Commons license.
