This website aims to make the life and especially the work of the Indian scientist and activist Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak better known. Spivak teaches at Columbia University New York in the Department of English and Comparative Literature, and her research focuses, in addition to the literature of the 19. and 20th century, Marxism, feminism, and deconstruction, poststructuralism, and globalization.

The website collects lectures, interviews and publications. In the future, there will also be individual text summaries.

The makers write about Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak and her work:

“Known as one of the most influential postcolonial theorists, she has published countless essays, books, interviews, and lectures, and has inspired and influenced countless exciting critical publications and practices. This website has set itself the task of collecting as many of them as possible, sorting them, commenting on some of them, and thus making them more easily accessible, especially for those who are in the (official) German-speaking world.”

A good, German-language introduction to her thinking and writing is provided by Miriam Nandi’s book, also listed on the website, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak. An intercultural introduction from the year 2009.
