In her short article “Pippi Longstocking – Emancipation only for white children?” Maureen Maisha Eggers examines the three volumes of “Pippi Longstocking” by Astrid Lindgren for contained messages of hierarchy to children. Pippi Longstocking, who is still iconized today as an emancipative model for girls, is a contradictory figure. The Zinn Education Project serves to implement diverse school-based teaching on the history of diverse people and groups of people in schools. The girls’ blog is an open feminist community project and sees its content as a response to and alternative to the “‘normal[s] youth or girls’ magazines.” Among other things, Mädchenblog writes, the website is about the body, relationships, sexuality and friendship, psychology, pop and subculture, politics, school and education. In addition, ubiquitous sexism on and off the net will be made visible, discussed and criticized. The girls’ blog seeks to implement insights from queer feminist theory and practice, using language that is understandable to as many people as possible.

Being Black is the blog for the book “Instructions for Being Black” by Anne Chebu. The blog features texts from an Afro-German perspective, videos, and materials related to the book. Like the book, the blog is primarily aimed at Afro-Germans who want to consciously confront experiences of racism and their identity as Black people. In their anthology “Black Berlin,” Oumar Diallo and Joachim Zeller focus on the people of African descent who have lived in Berlin for many generations and helped shape the metropolis on the Spree River. The various phases of African migration to Berlin over the last three centuries are illuminated. “Afrokids” by Olaolu Fajembola is the first “baby and children’s guide” aimed at caregivers of Black children in Germany. In the book, the author addresses specific everyday situations and challenges that are rarely addressed in other guidebooks: for example, choosing a name, multilingualism, and dealing with racism. “Peacebe and the Heartwatch” is a series of books by Leneen Faith, illustrated by David Campbell. Peacebe is a Black 6-year-old boy who owns a magic watch called Heartwatch. With the help of Heartwatch Peacebe can transform, fly and much more.
